Being an athlete, I am already prone to certain superstitions... when I was skating, I would have some odd rituals before competition, the order in which I would take off my skate guards, and what trinkets I would have with me...

But, as a fan, I have already mentioned previously that when it comes to The Jets, I am becoming convinced that I am an albatross. I am not one of those people who never wash their lucky underwear, but I do swear that when I wear certain articles of clothing to games, it effects the outcome. Furthermore, I can't watch Jet football on TV, because when I tune in, they lose -- for example, the Raiders game lost in overtime a few weeks ago.

So last night was the big game, Pats v Jets in New England. We both won our games on Sunday, and this was going to be a tough game/week because both teams only had 4 days rest. I already knew that I was not going to watch the game, what I didn't know was that when I got home, after I ate an early dinner, that I would pass out on the couch on and off until 7am this morning.

I stirred around 11, and Jody informed me that the game just went into over time. I saw them prep for the coin toss and speedily changed the channel because I KNEW that if I kept it on, something bad would happen.

And dammit, I was right. I kept the game off, put The Daily Show on, as Jody peered on and off at and told me that the game was over -- Jets won with a field goal.

HOLY CRAP. The Jets beat the Pats in OT... I can't remember the last time we won against them.

So there you have it. More evidence to support my superstition that I cannot watch Jets games on TV... What a freaky season... Jets at 7-3 and Pats at 6-4... Jets first in their division?? Maybe I can't tell because of the face masks... but do all the Jets have goatees now? I feel like I am in a mirror universe...
