a week of work and woogieness
Jul. 1st, 2004 09:26 pmThis week Leave and Steo came to visit, and help me out with some of the housework. It was a crazy week. Wednesday the appraisers came to look at my mom's stuff, and overall, I felt silly for their arrival. This is a prestigious appraiser firm, or at least that was my impression...
My mom's Star Trek collection may be worth something, at least what she paid for it. We have a Dali lithograph, which was estimated on the low side, and a couple of other finds, but the value is unknown. Sigh. The good news though, is that the actual building is worth about 1/2 of what we expected... much lower taxes :) yay!
OH! How can I forget -- the neighbors 3 doors down are having trouble with their phone... so Verizon is investigating, but it turns out that the problem is at a wire in MY backyard... so they have to trounce through my house and mess around, and dirty my carpet, and just really inconvenience my day. THEN they have to come back the next day to finish the job. sigh.
Anyway, Leave, Steo and I get a fair amount of work done while they are here. We also went to a great Vegetarian restaurant in the Village, and had some nice Indian food the next day... and they enjoyed my French toast breakfasts.
So... here comes the woogieness.
Thanks to the weather, and the rustling up of all my stuff in the apartment, like unloading a fair amount from the basement, and then having the appraisers move all this stuff around, and opening up the windows to the backyard and stuff... this morning, around 6:45am, I was awoken by a bug skittering across my arm, then across my bed. I have no glasses on, so I am blind, all I see is this black blob hurry around my bedspread and my pillow... UGHHHHHHHHHH. I grab my flip flops and hurry myself to get dressed, and I spent the next 3 hours waiting for Leave and Steo to wake up. In the meantime, I sat in my car. My waterproof, bug free car.
Tonight, I will go back to sleeping on my couch. with the lights on.
