A morning groan...
Jul. 9th, 2004 09:16 amAlright...
So, my morning begins with TNT, ends with TNT... and the first thing on is Charmed.
Today's plot:
200 years ago, a good witch turned bad.
Her name is Tuatha.
200 years later, The Chosen One, is the only one who can stop her.
His name is Kyle Gwydion.
AAARRRGGGHHHH
The real Tuatha is rolling over in the proverbial grave.

So the plan as of Tuesday was that my friend's mom would pack her back that night and then come straight to my house from work on Wednesday.
The reality is that her mom didn't pack her bag and ended up having to go home first and then come to my house. This added 2+ hours to our departure time.
We didn't get to VA until 1am, had to be at the court house by 8:30am.
The day was full of oddness but ended better than we expected. The defendant has 2 lawyers, and one of them didn't show up on time. As a result, instead of being called at 9:30 like we originally were... we were moved to the end of the docket and didn't finish until around 3pm.
The good news: He was sentenced longer than we expected. She can breathe easier for 5 to 15 years. He has 10 years suspended, but if during his 6 years of probation, he messes up even a little... he gets the remainder of his sentence. PLUS he has an embezzlement charge still pending from his last job. This will tack on a few more years. He is not allowed to EVER contact her, and he owes her restitution for lost wages and medical bills.
We were afraid that he would get the minimum, somewhere between 2 to 6 years. The judge was a little ornery and we were afraid he just wanted the trial overwith because he already knew what he was going to give. But, the judge ended up being pretty cool, fair, just, and didn't take any crap from the defense.
We are so proud of her, she spoke so well for herself :) She was strong, even though she cried, she was eloquent, and she made him cry. That was her own personal victory. She broke him down a little. yay!
Her mom and I left last night around 5:30. Finally got to my house by 11pm, I dropped her mom off at her apt in the Bronx first.
Driving was a chore. Some people think I should get Sainthood for dealing with her mom for over 10 hours. I just know how to handle her, and not let her get on my nerves. She is ignorant, low intelligence, repetitive, and did I mention ignorant and repetitive? I heard the same story at least 6 times on the ride down and back, each time with more horribly mixed metaphors, (don't put all your eggs in one pie cause when you slice it what do you get? Put your pie in different baskets) and poor grammar and poor pronunciation.
Ok, I'm done now... no more court dates, which means no more 5 hour drives to VA with her at my side. But, if I heard "Supposively" one more time, I will scream.
