I feel like I need to comment.
Oct. 26th, 2005 03:09 pmSurprise surprise.
Well, I saw this news story the other day and it really depressed me.

For the record, I am not upset that only 13-15% of the American population believe in evolution (as the only explanation of our existence), I am upset and moderately scared that the majority of the American population who believe in Creationism will quash scientific progress and stifle research of more than the evolutionary sciences. There are already numerous medical debates that are being argued against on the basis of religion.
Speaking of science vs. religion, one of the interesting notes in the article was the demographic distribution of their sample. By the numbers, it seems that there is a connection not only between Liberals and Conservatives, but of Religious affiliation.
I believe in science, and I could conceivably believe in God, being Agnostic and all... But I don't think they are mutually exclusive.
