Musical Theatre Topic
Nov. 15th, 2005 03:10 pmThank you to everyone who replied to my last post regarding a topic for my Musical Theatre class. Turns out that it doesn't have to to be a comparison and can just be a review or the production or recording...
I proposed an idea to the professor about Hair, but well... apparently it is nigh impossible to get a copy of the book so I can't compare the musical to the movie - since I know they are drastically different from one another.
But, this morning and idea struck me... Sweeney Todd. It is pretty accessible, and I have the video of a PBS recording. Apparently it is also on DVD, so I'll have to check that out for special features :-P And apparently the play it is based on, although not available to read, has been redone a number of times in the past, so I can compare it to that.
But now I guess I am calling out to everyone for any thoughts on it in general. I'll be seeing
shellefly tonight and plan on picking her brain, since she's a writer and all, and could give me tips on how to write a critical review, so I hope she brings brains to be picked. And I hope to chat with many of you or exchange comments etc etc... with maybe
in_this_guise or
annisette_toast or
thealiwoman and um... typing lj user <> "" etc etc 10 times is irksome. I know I am leaving people out of linkies, but you with opinions know who you are and I want to hear from you :)
I hope all is well out there. I have 3 weeks left to school (well I suppose 4, but Turkey day week is cut in half, and the last 2 days of "school" are study days before exams... yadda yadda. Leave me to my fantasy)
