I was sooooo ready to wake up with Jody this morning, at 6:45, then at 7:15... I actually felt awake! Then I decided to have 5 more minutes, at the very least my alarm would wake me at 8:30... Um...I had a dream and then it was 10:45! 3 hours lost!

GAH!

Anyway.... question for anyone who may know something.

In our cleaning saga, I am unearthing a lot of 35mm (and smaller it seems for at least 1 box) slides. We have a projector and a screen, but I don't really want to keep them in this format because they'll just keep degrading.

I started to look up services to scan the slides (and some places seem to do 35mm film negatives too as well as reel to reel movies) but I am not sure how to tell a good place from a crappy place. We have tons... so I am price checking at 1000 slides as an estimate. Hopefully it will be less, but all the places seem to do bulk orders like that.

Has anyone had experience with a particular company for any service like this? These types of places also do montages for family occasions, presentations for personal or business use, etc.

Right now I am leaning toward www.digmypics.com even though it means I will have to ship everything to Arizona. They seem to have the best price, most options for transfer, and well, one of the more navigable web sites, which always impresses me.

Yes, I am prepared to spend stupid amounts of money on this. A GOOD scanner is at least $2000, and based on scan times, it will take at least 12 dedicated hours to do 1000 slides. My time is worth more than that, and I'd only be using the scanner once.

Thanks for any input/thoughts in advance :)
