MMO brings people together....
May. 31st, 2007 01:03 pmSo last night I notice in one of the chat channels, there is a guy named Tuvix. My eyebrow goes up and wonder if that was a lucky combo of letters from the random name generator, or if he named himself after the character in Voyager.
He was Tuvix as opposed to Neevok... because apparently Neevok was taken or just disallowed by the server.
We talked for a while in private chat about why Trek is awesome, and why he (or maybe it's she? who knows?) likes Trek. It was like I was talking to a kindred Trekkie who liked Trek for the same reasons I do, the values and morals, the character development, the metaphor... the Roddenberry-ness of it all.
I realized the seriousness about their love for Trek when I said that picking "Tuvix" as a name was "cool" when he replied that it wasn't exactly cool because Tuvix was such a tregic character... then clarified by agreeing with him that the episode was emotionally and ethically rough but the fact that he can reference Trek in his name so esoterically... that was what was cool.
I hope to keep seeing him/her online and having the occasional chat.
