I can't remember if this was posted here, or who posted it or where I heard it...

But, Wal-Mart was recently trying to sue a former employee for money she won in a settlement to cover their expenses they spent on her health care initially.

Well, someone kicked their conscience into gear (I suppose they have to get karma points somewhere...) and they dropped the suit.

Really, they should not have accepted such a low settlement, if they needed money to care for her. Her lawyer should have known that her health insurance would need to be paid back out of any settlement. So this was a HUGE error on their parts. But I'm surprised that Walmart is willing to drop it; guess they thought it wasn't worth the bad press, because legally they were in the right. It certainly isn't her family's fault and they wouldn't really be able to support her without what's left of the money.

I saw that on cnn. The first time was a couple of weeks ago before Wal-Mart decided not to try to collect....

I can't help but think that with all the poor press Wal-Mart has gotten over the last few years (law suits from female workers, etc.), they really just decided to cut their losses.
