1. Leave me a comment saying you want to do the meme.
2. I'll respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You should update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You should include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

Her questions to me and the answers below...

1. When you and Jody have kidzes, do you want them to be athletes?

If/when we have kidzes, I certainly want my children to be athletic, and want to encourage physical activity as a way of life. I want them to have fun when doing whatever they're doing, if they decide to compete, I don't want to begrudge them that chance. I'd like to think that I am impartial and when my child is ready to hear the truth, I can be honest with them on their chances of "making it big" if that is their goal. If they're not good at something, but think they are God's gift, I can't let that go on... but if they are talented, truly, I'd like to encourage them. But really it comes down to fun, if they are not great at something but they have a fun time doing it, rock on.

2. What does being Jewish mean to you?

Being Jewish is a burden and a blessing. I tread the fine line of being a minority who is lucky enough to be in New York where I am not such a minority, and can avoid some or lots of the negativity toward Jews. Being a White Jew, versus one that is darker in complexion, I get a lot of White Privilege (something being at Teachers College makes me constantly aware of), which is a nice perk, but I hate the fact that there are perks at all for certain peoples. Otherwise being Jewish means being a part of a rich ancient history filled with family connections and historical bonds that tie us all together. Being a Jew of the lost tribe of Bacon Eaters, I am a Jew in culture, but not in ritual. Which is due to my lack of Judaic education as a child/adolescent. I want my kids to be Jewish, although they only need to practice if they want to. I want to give them a Jewish education, meaning that I want them to know about the ritual and tradition, for their own edification, I know they will get a Jewish education from me culture wise... joke wise... food wise... values wise... I am glad I'm a Jew. It's one more facet to me that makes me, me.

3. If you could give your younger self some love life advice, what would you say?

Hmm... hard to say, because everything I experienced in the love-arena got me to where I am today, and I wouldn't want to give any advice to my old self that would change me ending up with Jody, who is the love of my life, my one and only, my favorite... If we throw the idea out there that Jody and I are fated, and I could give advice freely without screwing with the space-time continuum... I would tell my younger self two things: 1) Try to tell her that a break up is not the end of the world. and 2) Most definitely, stay away from KLUGH. In the name of all that is holy in this world, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

4. What's your ideal job (position and environment)?

Ideally, I'd be the famous blue haired sports psychologist guru who has a fair share of clients, writes books/does research and makes appearances on the Today Show and the like to share my philosophy with the world. That, and/or being a skating choreographer who is respected for my creativity and my ability to make her students look good, playing off their strengths and not making them look stupid doing things they can't pull off... (ie: some skaters just can't do "sexy" and I would be able to recognize that and make them look good versus ridiculous)

5. How do you recharge emotionally?

People. I need people to fuel me. I need laughter of my friends, either caused by me or by something we're doing together. I need company and connection, even if I am drained emotionally and need a hug to recharge... I need that togetherness. I cannot recharge alone, there is no such thing as effective "me time" in the Alizahverse.

I'm curious since we have been in each others orbit, though not particularly close orbits, what questions you'd come up with for me.

Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy week of school and I was giving this a lot of thought.

Hmm...

1. What motivates you on a day to day basis?
2. Growing up, how did you consider yourself in terms of your peer relationships? (ie: popular, dork, outcast, popular dork :-p etc)
3. How long have you known what you wanted to pursue as a career?
4. Are you an adrenaline junkie? If so, what does it for you? If not, why not/what do you prefer?
5. How do you get yourself into a frame of mind to argue for something that you don't believe in? (ie taking sides in a debate and in the realm of law) Additionally, do you foresee a time where you would not work on something that offends your values? Or are you comfortable and able to compartmentalize and can argue anything as separate from yourself? Ok that was a long and complicated question... I hope you get the gist of what I'm asking :) Tell me about your process :)

ps -- I'm puttin' ya on my friends list.

Whew, busy week, but I am ready to question ya.

1. I seem to remember a time where you were very set on only having one biological child. Have those feelings changed and if so, what influenced your feelings?
2. I'm sure that I make them... does it upset you when friends make grammatical and/or spelling errors when writing for personal reasons? (ie journals, email etc). (If it does upset you, I apologize for my ways, and will endeavor to be better :-p)
3. Come November 5th (Godwilling that the counting is done by midnight), what will be your first thought/action if Obama wins? *knock on wood* If he loses?
4. Are you a morning person?
5. What is your favorite literary device to use? To have in a book you're reading?
